Diet and NutritionNutrition Support OnlineDietitians are experts in the field of diet and nutrition. So, why would you even consider turning to social media, your hairdresser or your best friend’s mother’s cousin’s butcher for nutrition advice when you can get personalised guidance from an expert?

Online dietitian consultations offer you convenience, personalised support, and accountability - without you having to leave your office or home.
How many times have you promised that starting Monday, you’re going to follow your diet? And then the first day of the work week rolls around, you feel like you need a weekend to recover from your weekend. Suddenly the salad you planned to eat for lunch isn’t all that appealing.
Or, you jump in on Monday feeling motivated and disciplined, only for the wheels to come off at work on Wednesday. You get home late. Your children are irritable. Your partner too. The last thing you want to do is spend time in the kitchen cooking a healthy meal. Uber Eats here I come!
Don’t worry! You’re not alone. Monday might actually be the hardest day to start a diet. The best time to start is right now. As soon as you think about eating better.
The Problem with DIY Diets
There is a wealth of valuable information at our fingertips when it comes to dieting, whether it’s for weight loss or managing a health condition. A simple Google search reveals millions of options ranging from the best Keto diet to intermittent fasting, low calorie weight loss diets to the cabbage soup diet, and how to load up on superfoods.
The problem lies in the fact that none of the information you find online or the diet your BFF shares with you is tailored to your unique needs. It is usually either too general or too specific – it worked exceptionally well for one influencer, but will it work for you?
Although some sources of diet and nutrition information are created by people who are experts in the topic, like Registered Dietitians 😉, all too often the viral social media post or trending blog article you are placing your hopes in is published by someone with questionable credentials.
Why You Should Consult with a Dietitian
Dietitians are experts in the field of diet and nutrition. Did you know that we have to go to university for a minimum of 4 years to qualify to advise people on how to adapt their diets to lose weight, improve their gut health, and manage conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. We are also trained to manage your nutritional intake pre- and post-surgery, in chronic kidney disease, cancer, and so much more.
So, why would you even consider turning to social media, your hairdresser or your best friend’s mother’s cousin’s butcher for nutrition advice when you can get personalised guidance from an expert?
I get it, though. Making time and setting aside the funds for a consultation and diet plan can feel like a big commitment. But, in truth, it’s an invaluable investment in yourself and your wellbeing. That’s why I’ve shifted my practice online.
What an Online Consultation Looks Like
But, Wendy, don’t you need to weigh me and measure me? How can you possibly get to know me well enough to craft a personalised diet plan for me on a computer screen?
No, I can’t weigh you or measure you through the internet, but those are things you can do for yourself. Besides, a healthy diet plan doesn’t’ rely on these numbers. You can still get valuable nutrition support online.
So, what does an online dietitian consultation look like?
- First, you will book your appointment using my convenient online booking platform.
- Next, I will send you a quick online form to complete that covers all your personal details required for me to consult with you and for you to acknowledge my practice terms and conditions.
- Then, we will meet online using MS Teams or Google Meets. During our time together online, I will do a comprehensive assessment, covering everything from your health and diet history to your current eating habits and nutrition goals.
- Finally, I will use the information from this online consultation to create a diet plan just for you, based on your nutrition requirements, personal circumstances, and dietary preferences.
And that’s it! We will meet online again for me to handover your meal plan and discuss any question you have about it.
We can also schedule follow up online consultations to troubleshoot any issue you may have with the plan. These are recommended to help keep you on track and motivated. Change is hard, but changes to your diet can be particularly tricky. After all, life has a habit of getting in the way of our best intentions!
Benefits of Online Dietitian Consultations
There are many reasons to consult with a dietitian online. The 3 top benefits are:
- Convenience: Chat to me from anywhere. No need to leave your office or home, waste time in traffic, or schedule your appoint around your kids’ homework. Simply book, dial in, and get the nutrition advice you need.
- Personalised support: No more relying on questionable diet advice that sounds too good to be true. Get a meal plan that works for you.
- Accountability: The key to success is having someone hold you accountable. When you have to tell your dietitian that there were 3 birthdays in the office on the same day and you ate a large slice of cake to celebrate each one, you might think twice about how much you indulge. Or you might still go ahead and dive in. Life is short!
